When I get to photograph a child portrait so perfect it makes me remember what is special about the world it is the sweetest thing. Showing me what is important. Stop and smell the flowers they say, yeah right we all say, because we’ve all got time for that.
It is amazing how a 3 year old gets it right and they’ve been on this planet far less time than we adults have.
Lets think like a 3 year old for a moment and realise that stopping to smell the flowers, talking about their different colours and shapes – these may be the most important things we ever do. All the rushing around in the world is for singular moments like this to happen.
What are we teaching them about what is important in life. Rush here, rush there, don’t forget this, remember to bring that. “Quick we are going to be late” – this is my favourite, I say this constantly to the point it actually does the reverse with my kids now. Oh yeah, she said that yesterday. You know what kids, stop, take the time to marvel at the world, it is so special and we rush past it every day.
I apologise for my ramblings – just the way a beautiful image of a stunning little girl I was so privileged to photograph speaks to me and makes me question life – carry on, I’m sure I must be running late for something.
