I have a soft spot for labs.  We had one growing up, and despite his skills in garden destroying he was the most loyal companion you could ever ask or.  My kids always ask me for “Benji” stories.  Stories of how he used to follow the milkman and steal the milk off our neighbour’s steps, of how my dad infamously, however unsuccessfully,  taught him how to jump in the back of the ute.  But their favourite story is of how he swam out into the river and saved his best mate from drowning, a little dachshund.  He was caught in the current, and Benji, swam out and nudged him with his nose all the way into shore.  That is friendship, as a child you learn a lot from animals.

There is something rather special when photographing animals in a family.  I always encourage it as much as possible if a family have pets.  I’m a firm believer that our animals are family and moreso, animals make a family.  They bring out the best in us, showing us unconditional love, humility and simplicity.

I was lucky to meet this beautiful family a couple of weeks back at their property near Samford.

The two fur babies were very well behaved, with beautiful big personalities.   I love the old teaching the new, I love the stories of two puppy’s and the mischief they get into together.  I simply loved photographing them.

Can’t wait to show you all more!  This is family.
