There is something about Baby Portraits and those early days and their smiles. Baby smiles are so perfect. There is nothing forced, nothing fake, nothing taught, just instinct. Instinct which makes them express that joy and happiness in their faces and makes those eyes just light up.
I often find once kids hit the kindergarten years they are taught to smile, and will throw me their cheesiest pearly whites on cue. That may work for the school photographers, but I try to extract the real joyous smiles back, encouraging that unrestrained, joy, laughing out loud smile which tells the story of who they really are.
Fortunately for me, I didn’t need to try to hard with this one – this little guy would light up each time, he was amazing. So much excitement, so much to say in his eyes.
Love that expression – I’m sure his family do too.
