We live in a digital world these days. And I get. Digital photography means that when you book a family photography session in Brisbane you want to be able to share those images far and wide.
That is why when you book in a family photography session in Brisbane with me, of course I do offer digital files for you to purchase so you can print those images you have purchased to your hearts content.
There are a multitude of reasons why you should not go to your nearest big supermarket chain, stationery warehouse or small appliance centre and use the photograph ordering machines they have. I could go into the science behind it, but I’m sure that will just bore you to tears (yes, I do mean science. At one point I was looking to do post grad on colour theory, I kid you not). From a photography-client perspective, you have paid for a photographer to deliver a product to you. Beautiful photographs of your family. Those photographs have been meticulously prepared, edited and quality checked by a professional. They have then been provided to you in the most user friendly, widely used format available so you have the best chance of producing quality prints yourself anywhere in the world. The problem is, those retail printers are set up to print non-professional, iphone style photos. In those photos taken on an iphone, all that work you have paid a professional to do has been done by a processor that fits in your pocket. They have not been processed to a professional print quality standard. They are processed to be viewed on a phone screen.
Those print machines aren’t designed to print professional photographs. Its one of the reasons us professional photographers are so precious about printing our photographs ourselves. When we control the process, we control the end product. By printing elsewhere, we loose control. We loose control of the end product, and most likely there is a substandard representation of your family out there on someone’s wall. And that makes every professional photographer worth their weight feel a little icky.
OK, so what’s an alternative for my family portraits?
Like always with professional photography, you are best to print with your photographer, in this case, me, to guarantee you’ll get a quality product that will last.
I do not guarantee the products or the print quality when you print through a printer who is not me. Having said that, I can recommend you use a company like myprophoto. Myprophoto are the only, consumer photographic printers I would recommend and they have an incredible range of products available. In simple terms, I know from talking to them (yes they are local to Brisbane), they know what they are doing.
Enough of the jargon, how do I use them?
It’s really simple, just head to www.myprophoto.com, enter the account number 31570 and you are good to go. All the instructions for ordering are on the website.
Don’t forget to ask me for your discount code if you haven’t received it yet.
