Another Mum to celebrate, another gorgeous family portrait.

mothers-portrait-3

Think forward ten years.  How old will he be?  Will she be 14?  Maybe he’ll be 18.  Maybe for some it’ll be their 21st.

Ten years is a quarter of my life, but for these little people its all of theirs.  I’m nearly 40, couple of years to go, yet in 10 years a lot happened to me, so for those little feet we have around us, just imagine, 10 years is actually a long time.  These little people become so much closer to the person they are going to be.

Think back now, way back when we were that size.  When we were 14, 18, or 21.  Think about how much we looked at those photos on the wall.  Think about that one in the hallway of that round chubby baby (for me it was the baby girl dressed in blue with flaming red hair – see below!!).  Think back to those photos with no teeth, in that embarrassing outfit that mum made us wear and that crazy perm we decided was a good idea.

These memories make us who we are.  These memories allow us to connect with ourselves, our history.   These memories are so essential to our emotional stability and our mental health and they are a big part of the people we have become.  Of how we identify with ourselves.

Think back to how important that photo is of you with grandma, with your mum.

And now, think back to how you saw that image.  Think of how stable it is, all beautiful prints on paper, or maybe a beautiful glass mounted image like this one of me.  Yes that’s me, so cute wasn’t I?  I asked mum to get a quick snapshot of this from her wall – don’t you love the scalloped edge?

And now think about how we see our images now.  How our kids see their childhood memories.

Think about the last time your phone screen cracked.  The last time someone dropped your phone in water?

Think about the last time your computer crashed and you saw the blue screen of death.

Think about CDs that bare a great resemblance to a coaster, think about how easy they are to break in half.

Think about those floppy disks, remember those little drives and the light would flash to tell you it was being read?  When was the last time you saw one of those drives?  Think about how many precious, priceless memories you have stored on these fragile devices.

Think about the larger floppy, remember the ones with the film type material inside (like above), you could just see it in the back. I’d forgotten about these ones.  Think about the last time you saw a computer drive that could read the data on that floppy.

Do you really still think the cloud can’t break?

Now think, is it time for us to create some beautiful art prints for your walls?
